Ambode Sets up Taskforce on Land Grabbing…Vows to Jail Omo-Oniles.
Reprise may have finally come the way of land buyers in Lagos as the state government is now all out to legally crush the “Omo-Onile” menace in the state. A “Special Task Force on Land Grabbing” to arrest the situation was set up yesterday.
According to the governor, Mr. Akinwum i Ambode , “henceforth, anybody who uses physical threat to dispossess people of their legitimate property would be treated as a criminal in accordance with Sections 52, 53 and 281 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State”.
The above sections of the state’s criminal law prescribes, “A jail term of two years for any person who forcibly enters or takes possession of land in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace against a person entitled by law to the possession of the land.”
