Plateau Seeks FG Partnership to Construct Housing Units for Workers
As a move to ease accommodation, the Plateau State Government has said it is ready for a partnership with the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) for the construction of smart housing units in Jos, the state capital.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Joshua Laven, after meeting with the delegation from the Federal Housing Authority (FHA).
Laven, who represented the state governor at the meeting, said the housing scheme, which is a top priority of the state government, would provide affordable accommodation for low, middle, and high-income earners.
“The project, when completed, would curb insecurity, provide employment opportunities for the productive unemployed youths that are roaming the streets as well as encourage communal living. Housing plays a crucial role in promoting social stability in society.
“Again, affordable housing plays a crucial role in improving the lives of individuals and families, fostering social stability, and contributing to the overall well-being of the people,” he said.
He added that the importance of the project is the reason why the state has engaged the FHA and the Regional Representative of Shelter Afrique in Nigeria, Mrs Elizabeth Ogonegbu, and her team to help in providing the developer with a one-digit interest loan.
