Demolition: FHA Warns Festac Landlords Against Continued Development
Property owners in the Festac area of Lagos State have been warned by the Federal Housing Authority against further development in the area without approval.
Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, the Zonal Head, Land Survey, South West FHA, Umar Lawal, disclosed that the demolition of illegal structures by the FHA has not ended.
Reacting to the negative reports surrounding the demolition exercise, Lawal revealed that the exercise wasn’t done without proper notices to owebrs of the affected houses.
This was as he lamented the rise in illegal structures in the area which he said prompted proactive measures to avert looming danger caused by years of abuse of physical planning laws.
He, however, stated that 363 hectares of 2,024.64 hectares of total land acquired by FHA, which are under litigation, were not affected.
In conclusion, Lawal debunked claims that the demolition exercise was directed against a particular ethnic group in Nigeria.
