Families Clarify Status of Disputed Ogun Land
Families in Ogun State, including Ikoriko Ajangboju Koniwo Agbogbo Akindipe and Fatusi Ogedengbe of Imojuba town, have issued a stern warning to potential land grabbers, Guardian reports.
The families emphasized that legal matters surrounding the extensive land, a subject of previous legal disputes, have been conclusively settled with the Appeal Court’s judgment on February 28, 2022.
Alhaji Anibire, speaking on behalf of the Ikoriko Ajangboju Koniwo Agbogbo Akindipe family, clarified that the land is now free from litigation. The warning comes in response to speculations about the land’s legal status, fueled by suspected land grabbers and unscrupulous individuals attempting to mislead innocent citizens interested in dealing with the property.
The affected communities, including Ajegunle, Onse, Olose, Kajola, Iboro, Ajibawo, Oke-Ore, Maku, Olorunda, and Olorunleke, were part of the settlement. Alhaji Anibire highlighted that the resolution occurred between Chief Abiodun Obarinu and others representing the respondent, as well as Jelili Akinbode and others representing the appellant.
The appellant court, in appeal No: CA/IB/447/2024, issued a judgment based on the terms of settlement mutually agreed upon by the parties involved. As a result, 1,200 acres of the disputed 10,000 acres of land were duly accepted by the families.
Anibire urged the public to dismiss any reports or agitation regarding the land, emphasizing that the families are not involved in illicit land dealings. He noted that copies of the judgment are with the police and relevant authorities, and anyone interested in dealing with the land should contact Alhaji Nojeem Balogun, who holds the necessary information.
