Gunmen Invade Abuja Estate, Abduct Eight
Gunmen have targeted Sagwari Layout Estate on Dutse axis, Bwari Area Council of the FCT, abducting eight individuals in a late-night operation. The invasion occurred at approximately 11:47 pm on Sunday, as the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, breached the estate’s security.
Emmanuel Shagari, a resident of Dutse, reported that the gunmen surreptitiously infiltrated the estate through the bank fence. Operating quietly, they invaded multiple flats, seizing eight individuals at gunpoint. Notably, the assailants refrained from discharging their firearms, presumably to avoid alerting neighbors.
The criminals, before departing with their victims, subdued the security guard by tying him down with a rope and confiscating his phone. It was only after their departure that security operatives were notified, prompting collaborative efforts with other law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators.
Despite attempts to seek information, the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, remained unresponsive to inquiries at the time of filing this report. The community now grapples with heightened concerns over security, as residents anxiously await updates on the ongoing investigation.
This brazen abduction underscores the growing challenges faced by communities in the FCT, emphasizing the need for robust security measures and swift response mechanisms to address the escalating threat of criminal activities within the nation’s capital.
