In a significant stride towards addressing the housing shortage in Jigawa State, the Executive Council has given the nod to a N6 billion project aimed at constructing 1,500 housing units across diverse locations.

Announcing the development, Alhaji Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, outlined that the allocated funds would support the development of three-bedroom standalone and two-bedroom semi-detached flats. This initiative is in line with Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible housing for the state’s residents.

Musa disclosed that a substantial amount of N5.9 billion has already been disbursed for the ambitious project, highlighting the government’s earnestness in tackling the housing deficit.

Strategically distributed, the housing initiative earmarks 600 units for Dutse, 200 for Hadejia, and 100 for each of Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim, and Binin-Kudu Local Government Areas. Addressing the pressing need for accommodation in specific regions, Babura and Kafin Hausa LGAs are set to receive 150 units each.

This significant investment underscores the government’s dedication to addressing the housing deficit, a pivotal component of Governor Umar Namadi’s comprehensive 12-point agenda. The approved funds mark a crucial step forward in realizing the state’s vision of providing quality housing for its citizens.
