The Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) has raised concerns over unauthorized constructions in certain areas of the state, emphasizing the need for builders to obtain proper approvals.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Nuhu Garba Dan’ayamaka, the Assistant Director of the Public Affairs Unit at KASUPDA, expressed discontent with individuals who have initiated construction projects, established shops, and installed containers, kiosks, and other signage without obtaining the necessary building permissions.

Dan’ayamaka warned that such developments would not be tolerated, stating, “Failure to adhere to the rules and regulations, KASUPDA will not hesitate to take appropriate action as stipulated by the law accordingly.”

The authority underscored its commitment to enforcing planning regulations to ensure orderly and lawful urban development. According to KASUPDA, the unauthorized commencement of projects and the establishment of structures without the requisite permissions pose a significant challenge to effective urban planning and development control.

The statement urged builders and developers to engage with the authority, obtain the necessary approvals, and adhere to established procedures before initiating any construction activities. Failure to comply with these regulations, as outlined by KASUPDA, could result in legal consequences.

The announcement reflects the growing concern within Kaduna State’s urban planning and development circles regarding the rising incidence of unauthorized structures. KASUPDA’s vigilance aims to maintain the integrity of urban planning initiatives, ensuring that developments align with established guidelines and contribute positively to the overall urban landscape.

As Kaduna grapples with rapid urbanization, KASUPDA’s stance underscores the importance of a well-regulated and coordinated approach to urban development, fostering sustainable growth while preserving the integrity of the cityscape.
