Ado Bayero Mall in Talks with Major Retail Chains Over Shoprite’s Exit
Ado Bayero Mall in Kano State is actively engaging with prominent retail chains to fill the void left by Shoprite, which has announced the closure of its store within the mall on January 14, 2024.
The mall’s director, Ike Okeke, expressed regret over Shoprite’s decision, attributing it to the challenging economic conditions in the nation. Okeke emphasized the amicable and mutually beneficial relationship enjoyed with Shoprite during its decade-long presence in the premium Ado Bayero Mall in Kano.
Stating that the mall respects tenants’ autonomy in business decisions, Okeke affirmed that the departure of Shoprite aligns with global practices where businesses make strategic decisions based on their goals. He assured patrons and residents of Kano that discussions with new major retail chains are underway, with announcements expected in the near future.
“While we wish Shoprite the best in their future endeavors, we wish to assure the shoppers and customers of the mall as well as the good people of Kano that new major retail chains are in discussions with us to take spaces within the mall,” the statement reads.
Despite the change, Okeke affirmed the mall’s commitment to providing Kano residents with the highest quality global shopping experience.
